Mr. Carl Schwartz and his delegation first watched the promotional video and the annual progress introduction of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology. They were shocked and offered warm congratulations on Shenzhen's innovative environment and policies, as well as the speed and quality of interdisciplinary development of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology. They also stated that these innovative achievements were evident in terms of both quantity and quality in the citation data of journals under Elsevier.

Subsequently, during the discussion, Mr. Carl Schwartz and his delegation, along with Professor Qin Ling, the director of the Translational Medicine Research and Development Center of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Researcher Lai Yuxiao, the deputy director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Researcher Chang Junlei of the Institute of Medicine, Researcher Zhu Yingjie of the Institute of Brain Science, Researcher Du Xuemin of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, and Ms. Kuang Yongzhen, the director of the International Cooperation Office of the Scientific Research Department, exchanged in-depth opinions and had lively discussions on matters such as the existing service purchases of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology from Elsevier, the citation performance of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology in journals under Elsevier in the past four years, encouraging more young Chinese scientists to join the paper review, editorial board, and chief editor teams of journals under Elsevier, strategic cooperation plans for Open Access, and the extension of the trial period of the Scopus AI database for peer review abstracts.
